I haven't had too much to blog as of late. I have just been busy trying to adjust to my new teaching position and planning like crazy for the Christmas concerts...all three that I am responsible for, yikes! I have managed to find the time to make a few new things this week. Some new fancy feathered headbands, which I forgot to photograph before I sold them this weekend and some really cute rosebuds which I fastened on to hairclips and Christmas-y plaid headbands.
I've also taken quite a few custom orders which is really nice! This week I am going to be spending every spare moment that I have preparing for the Christkrindlmarket being held at Alderney Landing. It should be really fun and hopefully really busy. It's a German themed market and there is going to be all kinds of special events and entertaining. They are bringing in a skating rink and a carousel and of course Santa. There will also be performances by Terry Kelly (who always inspires me), Charlie A' Court, as well as school choirs and more. This will be my first all weekend market/craft show. I hope there is a good turn out and that I get some more stuff made in time!
Sporadically documenting my love of teaching, crafting, cooking and of all things vintage.

Alderney Landing Market Debut
Yesterday I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn, got my friend K and headed to the Alderney Landing Market in Dartmouth for the first time ever. We had a table near one of the entrances and other than it being a little chilly from the doors opening and closing we had a nice day chatting and people watching.
Items weren't exactly flying off the shelves but I did manage to sell a few things...most of them to one lady. When I saw her coming I new that she was part of our target audience! She had wild curly hair with a pouf-y gray and pearl embellished headband and crazy cat-eyed glasses. She bought two cards, six gift tags, and one of my feathered headbands, which looked fantastic on her! My other lone customer was an adorable older lady and she bought one of my butterfly terrarium ornaments. The grand total sold was $32, the exact amount required to cover the cost of the table!
Poor K had ADORABLE cake buntings and super sweet flower garlands and didn't sell any:( I think as soon as the right customer comes along they will snatch up a bunch for their special event and she will do very well. However lucky for us the nice lady at the market later came along and told us that she was going to waive the first two weeks fees. Her theory is that for some reason it usually takes a few weeks for people to notice you and for sales to increase. I think she didn't want us to leave discouraged and to guarantee we'd come back.
I am hoping that next week we can get a table a little closer to the action away from that door. It seemed like most people congregated in the middle section of the market and people only hit us on their way out the door...at which point they had already settled on leaving and were done shopping. Either way, we'll be there giving it another go next week.
Me at our cute little table.

K's cake bunting (in donuts and Pellegrino bottles), picture them on a decadently frosted birthday cake! So cute!

Sew Much to Do...
I am frantically trying to get ready for my debut at the market but wanted to share a few things that I have made in the past week or so. Between teaching, my serving job and hockey I have no clue how I am going to get this all together by 5am-ish on Saturday morning but I am sure I will succeed. I may not have everything perfect (which will kill me) but I am sure it will be just fine.
Snow Babies(should have photgraphed them against a coloured background).
My first boy doll!
I tried a new method to make the hair for this one. I found it here.
Bibs made using some of the fabric sent to me by Alana in Japan.
I am off to job number two in a few...wish me luck...I'll need it to get everything done and organized in time:)

Meet Me at the Market!
I have officially booked a table at the Alderney Landing Farmer's Market to sell my crafts! I went there yesterday to check it out and I really enjoyed the vibe there. There was lots of fresh produce, baked goods and several craftsters like myself. There was also live music and a really relaxed atmosphere, it was busy but not overly crowded. The market is open Saturdays from 8am to 1pm. I am gonna give it a go starting November 6th and the following weeks leading up to Christmas to see how I do. I am excited to get started but I have a lot of stuff to do to get ready so I can have enough stuff to sell and have a super cute table:)
